The Indian Army, in collaboration with local police authorities, organised a lecture-cum-interactive session on cyber awareness at the Co-Operative Institute of Education in Budhal on Sunday. The initiative was aimed at educating students about the rising threats of cyber crime and promoting the safe and responsible use of digital platforms in an increasingly connected world.
The programme brought together students, faculty members, and officials who participated in a structured session focusing on the importance of cyber security in everyday life. With the rapid expansion of internet usage and the growing dependence on digital tools, the need for awareness regarding online safety has become more crucial than ever. The organisers highlighted that young people, being among the most active users of digital platforms, must be equipped with the knowledge and skills to protect themselves from potential cyber threats.
During the session, officers from the Indian Army and representatives of the police delivered detailed presentations explaining various forms of cyber crime.
They discussed issues such as cyber fraud, social media scams, identity theft, phishing attacks, and the misuse of personal information.
Real-life examples and case studies were shared to help students better understand how such crimes are carried out and how individuals can become vulnerable if they are not cautious.
Special emphasis was laid on preventive measures and best practices that can help users stay safe online. The speakers advised students to use strong passwords, avoid sharing sensitive personal information on unsecured platforms, and remain cautious while clicking on unknown links or responding to suspicious messages. They also stressed the importance of verifying the authenticity of online transactions and being mindful of privacy settings on social media accounts.
The session was conducted in an interactive and engaging manner, allowing students to actively participate and share their concerns. The open environment encouraged participants to ask questions and seek clarification on various aspects of cyber security. The speakers addressed these queries with practical suggestions, ensuring that the students left with a clear understanding of how to navigate the digital space safely.
The initiative was part of a broader effort to create awareness at the grassroots level and empower youth with the knowledge required to deal with emerging challenges in the digital era. By focusing on education and awareness, the organisers aim to build a more informed and responsible generation capable of using technology for positive purposes while avoiding its potential risks.
Faculty members of the institution appreciated the initiative, noting that such programmes play an important role in supplementing academic learning with practical knowledge that is essential in today’s world. They highlighted that awareness about cyber security is no longer optional but a necessity, particularly for students who are increasingly exposed to digital platforms for education, communication, and entertainment.
Students who attended the session expressed their appreciation for the informative and interactive nature of the programme. Many noted that the session helped them better understand the risks associated with online activities and provided them with useful tips to enhance their digital safety.
The organisers reiterated their commitment to continuing similar outreach programmes in the future, focusing on youth engagement and community awareness. Such initiatives not only strengthen the relationship between institutions and the community but also contribute to building a safer and more informed society in the digital age.
