The 10th International Forest Fair organized at the Lal Parade Ground in Bhopal was inaugurated. Governor Mangubhai Patel and Chief Minister Mohan Yadav emphasized the importance of forest produce and underlined the utility of environmental protection and forest wealth. The 10th International Forest Fair organized from 17 to 23 December at the Lal Parade Ground was inaugurated by Governor Mangubhai Patel and Chief Minister Mohan Yadav. On this occasion, Chief Minister Yadav said that the forest wealth of Madhya Pradesh is the unique identity of the state. Referring to the role of Ayurveda during the Corona epidemic, he said that medicines obtained from forests saved the lives of many people.
Governor Patel said that the distribution of Ayurvedic decoction during Kovid revived the AYUSH medical system. He appreciated such events spreading awareness for the conservation and promotion of forests.
Features of the Forest Fair
Chief Minister Yadav described the fair as a “unique event” and said that it is bringing global recognition to the importance of forest resources and medicinal plants. The fair was started in 2001 and has now reached the international level. During this, cheques of bonus amount were given to tendu leaf collectors from Raisen, Vidisha, and Seoni.
Achievements in wildlife conservation
The Chief Minister said that Madhya Pradesh is leading in the country in tiger and cheetah restoration. He praised the efforts of the Forest Department for restoring cheetahs and contributing to the protection of forests under the leadership of Prime Minister Modi.
Gift for tendu leaf collectors
Minister of State for Forest Dilip Ahirwar announced that the honorarium of tendu leaf collectors has been increased from three thousand to four thousand rupees per sack. Along with this, schemes like accident relief and compassionate appointment have been implemented. Chief Minister Yadav appealed to the citizens to take advantage of the medicines displayed at the fair and contribute in preserving the forest wealth.
