Congress leaders gifted a piggy bank filled with Rs 5 lakh to the children of a businessman couple who committed suicide in Madhya Pradesh’s Sehore district. The step was taken keeping in mind the sympathy towards the children and the involvement of the children during Rahul Gandhi’s ‘Bharat Jodo Yatra’. Congress leaders met the children of Manoj and Neha Parmar, the couple who committed suicide, in Ashta town of Sehore district on Tuesday. The leaders handed over a piggy bank filled with Rs 5 lakh to the children and promised support for their future.
The leaders, led by former minister Sajjan Singh Verma and state Congress media department president Mukesh Nayak, took this initiative in line with the spirit of Rahul Gandhi, to whom these children had presented their piggy bank during his ‘Bharat Jodo Yatra’.
Sajjan Singh Verma said, “This piggy bank is a symbol of Congress’ commitment. We will take full responsibility of the children’s education and needs. We stand with them in this hour of grief.” The couple’s suicide has heated up politics in the state. The deceased businessman Manoj Parmar had accused the ED and BJP leaders of harassment in his suicide note. The Congress accused the BJP of politicising the matter and showing insensitivity.
The Congress has reiterated its commitment to take care of these children, called the Gullak Team, due to which the incident has become the center of social and political debate.
