On 01 July 2024, Lieutenant General NS Raja Subramani assumed the prestigious position of Vice Chief of Army Staff. The General Officer, who previously served as the General Officer Comman-ding-in-Chief (GOC-in-C) of the Central Command in Lucknow, brings a wealth of experience and expertise to his new role.
Lt. Gen. Subramani was commissioned into The Garhwal Rifles in December 1985. His military education began at the esteemed National Defence Academy, followed by the Indian Military Academy. Further honing his strategic and operational skills, he is an alumnus of the Joint Services Command and Staff College in Bracknell, UK, and the National Defence College in New Delhi. Academically accomplished, he holds a Master of Arts degree from King’s College London and an M.Phil in Defence Studies from Madras University.
Throughout his illustrious career spanning over 37 years, Lt. Gen. Subramani has served in various capacities across diverse conflict zones and terrains, demonstrating his adaptability and leadership in challenging environments.
