NEW DELHI, Feb 3
Concurring with West Bengal Chief Minister and TMC supremo Mamata Banerjee, BRS working president KT Rama Rao today attacked the Congress, saying the national party was no longer an alternative to the BJP and instead it was playing spoiler for other regional parties fighting the BJP. Rao cited other regional party leaders as strong enough to take on the BJP in his post on a micro blogging site.
Yesterday, the TMC chief had taken a jibe at the Congress for holding its Bharat Jodo Nyay Yatra in West Bengal without informing her and challenged the party to take on the BJP either in Allahabad or Varanasi. She also said the Congress might not even win 40 seats in the upcoming Lok Sabha elections. “I completely concur with Didi. The Congress should introspect on how its attitude has resulted in implosion of the proposed INDIA alliance. Instead of taking on the BJP in UP and Gujarat (where it is a direct face off) and making something out of it, the Congress ends up playing spoiler by fighting against other parties. Fact of the matter is the only forces who are able to hold off the BJP are those that are led by strong leaders such as KCRji, Mamataji, Kejriwalji and Thiru Stalin. The Congress is no longer a viable alternative to BJP,” wrote KT Rama Rao on X.
With the BRS apprehensive that the Lok Sabha elections might turn out to be a fight between the Congress and the BJP in Telangana with little political space left to the regional party KT Rama Rao has been urging people to vote for his party as they are solely committed to the cause of Telangana.
Following Chief Minister Revanth Reddy’s meeting yesterday in Adilabad, Rao slammed him for not attacking the BJP, particularly after the Union Budget completely overlooked Telangana.
“Yet not a word against the BJP from Telangana chief minister!!Deafening silence. What are you scared of? Why this abject surrender in the interests of the state? From meekly signing and handing over projects to Krishna River Management Board (KRMB) to staying absolutely silent on the injustice meted out to the state, truly appalling,” wrote Rao, opposing the handover of the state’s key irrigation projects to KRMB.
BRS MLC and Rao’s sister Kalvakuntla Kavitha too attacked the Congress government for deciding to invite party leader Priyanka Gandhi to kick off a government scheme of providing domestic LPG cylinder at subsidized rate of Rs 500.
She also retorted to Revanth Reddy’s allegations of family rule against KCR by accusing the Chief Minister’s brothers of meddling in the administration.
