In a collaborative effort, the 2nd Battalion of the State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) in Jammu, led by ASI Ashok Kumar and his proficient 12-member team, joined hands with the National Cadet Corps (NCC) to conduct a two-day training program at the esteemed NCC Training Academy in Nagrota.
The primary objective of this enlightening event is to empower 540 NCC cadets with essential skills and knowledge, enabling them to respond effectively in the face of calamities and accidents.
The training day kicked off with a dynamic and engaging session, immersing cadets in various emergency scenarios and instructing them on appropriate actions to take. The program underscored the significance of swift and efficient responses in natural disasters, accidents, and critical situations. Expert trainers from SDRF Jammu took the lead in delivering both hands-on demonstrations and theoretical insights into disaster management techniques. The comprehensive training covered vital aspects such as first aid, search and rescue operations, fire-fighting, and immediate assistance provision to those in need. Practical exercises and simulations were integrated into the curriculum, allowing cadets to apply their newfound skills. This hands-on approach aimed to foster confidence in their ability to respond effectively to real-life situations. Colonel RS Jasrotia, SM, the Battalion Commander of 2 J&K BN NCC, expressed the overarching goal of the initiative: “The overall aim is to cultivate a generation of young leaders capable of stepping up during emergencies. This training equips them with valuable skills that can save lives and minimize damage during unforeseen events.” The collaborative efforts between 2nd BN SDRF and NCC exemplify a commitment to proactive disaster preparedness and the development of a resilient and capable youth population ready to face any challenges that may arise in the future.
