On Tuesday, National Conference vice-president and former chief minister Omar Abdullah accused the Center and the state government of failing on every front in Jammu and Kashmir, saying the feeling of insecurity and mistrust was increasing among the people. Claims of peace and restoration of normalcy have been lost amid the ever-increasing presence of security forces and the construction of new bunkers.

Addressing party workers in Ganderbal today, Omar Abdullah said that the vegetable gardens shown by Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Home Minister Amit Shah at the abrogation of Article 370 are nowhere to be seen. The condition of restoration of peace in Jammu and Kashmir is that terrorist attacks are happening every day. On Monday, three of our policemen were sacrificed in the terrorist attack in Pantha Chowk. There was an encounter between security forces and terrorists in Surankote today. A terrorist was killed in Avantipore on Sunday. The central government and the state administration have failed to instil a sense of security and confidence among the people.

Omar Abdullah said that this government has also failed on the development and employment front. The power crisis is getting worse. Only announcements are being made in the name of investment. Lakhs of rupees are being spent on well-planned visits and programs of Union Ministers to make the situation normal. The reality is that today the situation in the entire state has completely deteriorated. We had removed the bunkers from the civilian areas keeping the situation normal. The presence of security forces was reduced, but now new bunkers are being built. The deployment of security forces is increasing continuously.

The former chief minister said that instead of normalizing the situation, the central government continued its anti-Kashmir policies. This is increasing the frustration among the people. If we advocate talks to normalize the situation here, we are called the country’s enemy. This government is constantly ignoring the problems of the common people.
