JAMMU: FICCI FLO Jammu-Kashmir and Ladakh (JK&L) Chapter kickstarted the celebrations to Diwali under the directive of Founder Chairperson Ritu Singh. The day started with fervor and enthusiasm by supporting local street vendors with emphasis to women, who have been adversely effected by the pandemic economically.
Ritu Singh was accompanied by her core team and members of FICCI FLO JK&L who came in large numbers to support the cause. The idea behind this initiative is to spread awareness that “It’s the smallest things that make the big difference.” In continuation with that spirit FICCI FLO JKL donated a large amount of utensils to women in village Patoli Ekta, Block Bhalwal for creating value based employment for the local women.
This project is a collaborate effort between FICCI FLO JKL under the aegis of UMEED by JKRLM. Amidst the pious chanting of prayers offered to goddess Laxmi Ganesh and Lord Dhanavantri, the utensils were handed over to Shruti Uppal, Block Program Manager. We laid the foundation for a soon to be launched chain of Dhabas fully run by these women by the name of “Chakki Chaarpai” that will empower them both economically as well as socially.
The emphasis of food will be showcasing age old recipes of local Dogri cuisine. For the purpose FICCI FLO JKL & Umeed with work closely together to fulfill this purpose.
