Commissioner SMC Khursheed Ahmed Sanai today took up a meeting to review solid waste management in the summer capital. In a statement, SMC spokesperson said during the meeting, different components of solid waste management including status of IHHL, CTPT, open defecation free, I.E.C and Information Communication Technology were reviewed at length. It was informed that source segregation and door to door collection is being taken up in various wards. The Commissioner stressed for upgradation of sweeping machines, dust clearing machines, water sprinkling machines and hopper vehicles for effective door to door collection of waste. He directed for installation of more smart bins as per requirement in the city and procurement of grass cutters.commissioner directed immediate lifting of solid waste generated from desilting and cleaning of Municipal drains. He also reviewed development of parks, gardens and open areas in the city. On constructions he passed on directions to the Chief Enforcement Officer along with ward officers to ensure that there is proper covering of construction sites in order to avoid pollution . Senior officers including Additional Commissioner SMC Nazir Ahmed Baba, Joint Commissioner Works Ishtiyaq Ahmed Shah, Chief Accounts Officer Ghulam Nabi Bhat, Health Officer SMC Javaid Ahmed Qazi, Deputy Director Planning Khurshid Ahmed, Executive engineer Haqeem Firdous, Executive Engineer Itrat Naseem and Chief Sanitation Officer Syed Nisar.
