Civil servants are a link to realise Developed India 2047 goal: VP Radhakrishnan

Vice-President of India CP Radhakrishnan, while calling civil servants a vital link in translating the vision of Viksit Bharat (Developed India) 2047 into reality, appealed to India’s civil servants to make “Seva bhav and Kartavya bodh (Servitude and Duty)” their guiding mantra to achieve the goals of a developed India.
Addressing the valedictory function for Phase-II training of the 2024 batch IAS officers at the Lal Bahadur Shastri National Academy of Administration (LBSNAA), Mussoorie on the second day of his visit to Dehradun on Thursday, Radhakrishnan said civil services have made an immense contribution to the country’s development and remain a vital link between policy and its implementation at the grassroots level.
Referring to India’s ongoing journey towards Viksit Bharat (Developed India)@ 2047 as envisioned by the Centre, the Vice-President asked the young officers “to ensure that development reaches the last mile and is inclusive. He called upon them to make “Sevabhav and Kartavyabodh (Servitude and Duty)” their guiding mantra in their civil service careers.” South Asians & Diaspora
CP Radhakrishnan asked them to strive for team excellence rather than individual or group excellence. He stressed the importance of building cohesive teams, motivating colleagues and carrying forward good practices established by their predecessors to take the nation and the people forward in order to fulfill the target of Developed India by 1947.
The Vice-President appreciated the increasing representation of women in Indian civil services over time. “Around 41 percent of the 2024 batch civil servants are women.
This development is a powerful testament to Nari Shakti(women power) where talent rises above stereotypes and determination overcomes obstacles” he said.
The Vice-President called upon the officers to embrace emerging technologies including artificial intelligence, natural language processing, machine learning and blockchain to improve efficiency, transparency and service delivery to the people of India. He told them that continuous learning, adaptability and being future-ready for all kinds of situations hold the key to success in civil service
carrier.
Stressing that character and integrity are the foundations of public service Radhakrishnan said that true leadership is not measured by power or position but by the ability to act ethically even in difficult situations. He stressed and further advised,”trainee officers to make their service meaningful by transforming lives in the remote corners of the country and ensure that every grievance is heard and every citizen is empowered.”
