Minister for Jal Shakti, Forest, Ecology and Environment and Tribal Affairs, Javed Ahmed Rana, informed that a comprehensive water supply scheme for village Dardpora is being executed under the Jal Jeevan Mission at an approved cost of ?980.19 lakh, with significant progress already achieved. The Minister shared that the project, which is designed to benefit 2,165 households in the area, has reached around 80 percent physical completion.
He provided these details while responding to a Calling Attention Motion moved by Mir Saifullah in the legislative assembly. The scheme is aimed at ensuring a reliable and sustainable drinking water supply to the residents of Dardpora, a village falling within the Trehgam constituency. Javed Ahmed Rana stated that once completed, the project will cater to all panchayat halqas of the village, addressing long-standing issues related to water scarcity and irregular supply. He emphasized that the initiative is part of a broader commitment under the Jal Jeevan Mission to provide functional household tap connections to rural communities, thereby improving public health and living standards.
Providing further details, the Minister explained that Dardpora comprises five panchayat halqas. Out of these, halqas C, D, and E are currently receiving piped water supply through existing schemes such as Panzgam, Reddi Rashi Mohalla, and WSS Banjerpati. These arrangements have helped ensure a certain level of water availability in these areas, though the new project is expected to strengthen and streamline the supply system further.
However, the Minister acknowledged that panchayat halqas A and B have been facing challenges in terms of adequate water supply. These areas are currently experiencing low service levels, which have necessitated interim measures such as the deployment of water tankers to meet the daily needs of residents. He assured that the ongoing scheme specifically addresses these gaps and is expected to bring these underserved areas at par with the rest of the village.
The Minister highlighted that the project is being implemented in a time-bound manner, with strict monitoring mechanisms in place to ensure adherence to deadlines and quality standards. He noted that the government is closely overseeing the progress to facilitate early completion and timely delivery of benefits to the targeted population.
Javed Ahmed Rana reiterated the government’s commitment to strengthening rural infrastructure and ensuring equitable access to basic amenities such as safe drinking water. He added that the successful completion of the Dardpora water supply scheme would not only resolve immediate water-related concerns but also contribute to long-term sustainability and improved quality of life for the residents.
The initiative reflects ongoing efforts to bridge infrastructural gaps in rural areas and ensure that essential services reach every household. With the project nearing completion, residents of Dardpora are expected to benefit from a more dependable and efficient water supply system in the near future.
