The Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) 84 Battalion organised the Shaheed Mushtaq Ahmed Memorial Volleyball Tournament 2026 at Chanderkote, reaffirming its commitment to community engagement and youth development through sports. The tournament began on February 5 and brought together eight teams from different parts of Ramban district, creating an atmosphere of healthy competition and camaraderie.
The concluding match was held today at the Tactical Headquarters of the 84 Battalion CRPF, Chanderkote, under the aegis of the Jammu Sector CRPF. The event witnessed enthusiastic participation and attendance from both security personnel and members of the local community. Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Ramban, Arun Gupta, graced the occasion as the chief guest. Among those present were Commandant of the 84 Battalion CRPF, N Ranbir Singh; Second-in-Command Vikram Singh; Second-in-Command Arvind Kumar Dixit; Assistant Commandants Roop Ram Meena and Rupesh Kumar; CRPF personnel; family members of the martyr; and a large number of local youth.
The ceremony began with tributes to Shaheed Mushtaq Ahmed, whose sacrifice for the nation was remembered with deep respect and gratitude. Speakers reflected on his dedication and bravery, noting that such memorial events serve not only as a mark of respect but also as a reminder of the values of service and patriotism.
The final match drew a sizeable gathering of sports enthusiasts and residents from nearby areas. In a display of skill and teamwork, Chenab Warriors Chanderkote clinched the championship title by defeating Friends Volleyball Club Chanderkote in straight sets, with scores of 25-19, 25-20 and 25-20. The match was marked by energetic rallies, disciplined gameplay and enthusiastic support from the spectators.
Addressing the gathering, Commandant N Ranbir Singh highlighted the rich history of the CRPF and its significant contribution to national security and nation-building. He emphasised that sports play a vital role in shaping character, fostering discipline and promoting physical and mental well-being among youth. Encouraging young participants to actively engage in sports and constructive activities, he reiterated that the CRPF would continue to organise such initiatives to strengthen bonds with the local population and create positive avenues for youth engagement.

SSP Ramban Arun Gupta appreciated the efforts of the 84 Battalion CRPF in organising the tournament in honour of the martyr. He underlined the importance of sports in channelising the energy of young people in a productive direction and building resilience and teamwork. He also assured necessary assistance and support to the family of Shaheed Mushtaq Ahmed, acknowledging their sacrifice for the country.
At the end of the event, officials distributed trophies, medals and certificates to the winning and runner-up teams. Volleyballs and nets were also presented to encourage continued practice and participation in the sport. As a mark of respect, Veer Nari Rubina Begum was honoured with a shawl and a memento.
The programme concluded with a cultural performance presented by participants, adding a festive and emotional touch to the memorial event. The tournament not only celebrated sporting excellence but also reinforced the spirit of unity, remembrance and community partnership.
