The birth anniversary of Maharaja Hari Singh Ji, the last Dogra ruler of Jammu and Kashmir, was celebrated with great enthusiasm in Ramban under the leadership of BJP District President and former MLA Neelam Langeh.
Party workers, local residents, and prominent citizens gathered to pay floral tributes and recall the Maharaja’s historic contributions.
The programme began with garlanding of the Maharaja’s portrait, followed by cultural presentations highlighting his role in education reforms, social justice, and the signing of the Instrument of Accession, which paved the way for Jammu and Kashmir’s integration with India. Addressing the gathering, Neelam Langeh said that Maharaja Hari Singh was a visionary leader who worked tirelessly for the welfare of all communities.
“Maharaja Hari Singh Ji was not just a ruler but a reformer who gave Jammu and Kashmir a progressive identity. He stood for equality, justice, and empowerment of every section of society,” he stated.
He further emphasized that the Maharaja’s legacy continues to inspire people, especially the youth, to uphold the values of unity, discipline, and dedication. “His decision to sign the Instrument of Accession was a turning point in history, which linked our destiny permanently with the great nation of India. It is our responsibility to honour his vision by strengthening peace, harmony, and development in Jammu and Kashmir,” Langeh added. BJP leaders and workers also pledged to carry forward the Maharaja’s ideals by working for social justice and inclusive growth. They demanded that the teachings and reforms initiated by Maharaja Hari Singh be included in the educational curriculum so that future generations remain connected with their glorious heritage. The event concluded with a collective resolve to preserve Dogra culture and continue the mission of progress envisioned by the Maharaja.
