Prime Minister Narendra Modi will visit Uttarakhand to assess the losses caused by rain-inflicted natural disasters in the state this monsoon.
Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami shared the information, stating that the PM will have an aerial view of all disaster-affected areas, as also devastated Dharali Market in Uttarkashi.
“Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Home Minister Amit Shah have always been kind enough to lend their helping hands to the state in times of need. The prime minister will soon visit disaster-affected areas across the state,” said the Uttarakhand chief minister without giving a date for the prime minister’s visit.
He further said, “Mr Modi will be here to take stock of the losses due to natural disasters in different parts of the state. His visit will boost the morale of the disaster victims. He will have an aerial view of the disaster affected areas and may even meet the victims.”
However talks are going on in government circles that the prime minister’s visit would take place on September 11 or September 12.
It may be noted here that the Dhami government has already sent a budgetary demand of more than ?5700 crore losses to the centre. The Central government in return sends its team to assess losses due to disasters in the state.
Dhami further said, “A Central team is already working in the state to assess the losses due to the disaster in Uttarakhand with the help of state officials. We hope that the Centre will continue its support to us as in the past for the state has seen unprecedented damages and losses in this monsoon.”
The Uttarakhand chief minister further announced that the state government has decided to celebrate September 2 as Meadows Day every year. “The decision was taken as a part of the duty of every human being to conserve nature and environment. Our endeavour is to protect the Himalayas from getting polluted. Now, September 2 will be celebrated every year as Bugyal Diwas Meadows Day,” said Dhami.
