new delhi, Aug 5
An event, organised here on Tuesday to felicitate Aanganbadi workers, turned out a “Rakshya Bandhan” celebration, four days ahead of the festival, with Chief Minister Bhajan Lal Sharma, his two ministerial colleagues, and around 1.21 lakh Aanganbadi Behan(s) of Rajasthan taking part in it.
The event presented a rare emotional moment – in otherwise politics of the country filled with negativities – as Deputy Chief Minister Diya Kumari and Minister of State for Women and Child Development Manju Baghmar tied Raakhis to Chief Minister Sharma, akin to sisters.
Sharma reciprocated with warm blessings and Rakhi gifts to “sisters”. Many other Anganwadi sisters, who came from different places to participate in the event, also tied Raakhis to the CM.
On the occasion, the chief minister promised to defend them as a brother and stand by them through thick and thin.
A large number of Aanganbadi Behan(s) joined in the event virtually, through video conferencing from their respective districts.
Expressing his gratitude to the ‘sisters’ for tying the Raakhis to him, Sharma wished good luck to all of them and gave away gifts.
Amid cheers and clapping, he transferred Rs 501 to the bank account of each of the 1.21 lakh Anganwadi Behana with a click of the mouse. An umbrella and sweets were also sent to all of them as festival gifts.
CM Sharma also administered a suposhan – pledge – to all Anganwadi workers to work hard for the eradication of malnutrition from Rajasthan.
