Due to tension on the border, not only was the pilgrimage to Shri Mata Vaishno Devi affected, but the number of tourists visiting other places had also declined significantly. In such an atmosphere, people naturally preferred to remain indoors. It is a positive sign that the situation is now improving. With better conditions, the number of devotees is increasing, and gradually, tourists have also started returning to other destinations. Although it may still take some time for the situation to normalize completely, those associated with the tourism industry should not lose hope. Given the efforts being made by the central and state governments, there is certainty that the future will witness a favorable change. To increase the number of devotees, the Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Shrine Board has taken several commendable steps. Free facilities are also being provided to pilgrims, making their journey more comfortable. This is significant because tourism is the backbone of the state’s economy and provides employment to thousands. No one would want a situation where this vital sector is repeatedly disturbed. The region has faced such challenges multiple times, leading to loss for the local people. However, every time, Jammu and Kashmir has risen from adversity and moved ahead with resilience. Currently, there are positive signs. After the initial phase of tourist arrivals, the army has also taken effective action against terror camps located in Pakistan-occupied Jammu and Kashmir. By eliminating such threats, the region’s security is being strengthened. The local population has also stood shoulder to shoulder with the government, ensuring a unified response to these challenges. The slight increase in the number of devotees and tourists following the decrease in border tensions is indeed encouraging. The administration must continue to support this positive trend and facilitate those returning for pilgrimage and tourism. It is not just a question of faith and travel but also of livelihood and regional stability. If the current pace of improvement continues and all stakeholders maintain coordination, then not only will normalcy return soon, but Jammu and Kashmir will once again emerge as a preferred tourist destination. This requires collective effort and faith in the system, which appears to be gradually restoring confidence among people.
