NSS Unit, UBA Cell of Dogra Degree College visits Old Age Home at Amphalla

In an initiative to spread warmth and compassion, the NSS Unit of Dogra Degree College, in collaboration with the UBA Cell, organized a visit to Home for Old Aged and Infirm, Amphalla, Jammu on 30th December 2024. The visit was aimed at bringing joy and comfort to the elderly residents of the home.
The visit was led by the NSS Programme Officer, Simran Thakur, alongside the UBA PI Coordinator DDC, Balwant Singh, who actively participated in distributing the donated items. Principal Dr. Bela Thakur also extended her support for the initiative, which reflects the College’s commitment to social responsibility and community welfare. Around 25 enthusiastic volunteers participated in the event. The volunteers engaged with the elderly residents, spending time with them, distributing the donations, and bringing smiles to their faces.
The event began with the introductory speech by R.C Vaid, Zonal Physical Education Officer (Retd.), Member of the Managing Committee followed by the Balwant Singh’s note highlighting the goals and objectives of the visit. Some of the students shared their experiences and also gave singing performance. The senior citizens at the home also participated by singing and sharing their valuable life experiences.
The event ended with the key address of I.D Soni, Former State Commissioner, J&K, Bharat Scouts and Guide, President of the Managing Committee of Home for Old Aged and Infirm. Vinod Kumar, Social Activist and member of the managing committee played very important role in making the visit a success. As part of the initiative, the college contributed various eatables, winter accessories, Wheel chairs and clothes to the residents, ensuring they have the warmth and comfort they need during the winter season. The contributions were collected by the NSS Unit from both students and staff members, reflecting the community’s spirit of care and solidarity.
The initiative is a part of the NSS Unit’s ongoing efforts to promote social responsibility and contribute positively to society under the visionary leadership of Th. Gulchain Singh Charak, Chairman Dogra Educational Trust & Dr. Samar Dev Singh Charak , Secretary Dogra Educational Trust. The team expressed its commitment to continue such activities in the future, strengthening bonds with the community and making a difference in the lives of those in need.
