PM Vishwakarma Scheme: DC reviews implementation in Poonch district

The Deputy Commissioner Poonch Vikas Kundal today convened a meeting with concerned officers to assess the progress under the PM Vishwakarma scheme in the district. This initiative aims to empower artisans and craftsmen by providing them with essential training, modern tools, and market linkages.
At the outset, General Manager District Industries Centre Khalid Hussain Wafa presented an overview of the scheme, covering aspects such as eligibility, objectives, recognition, skilling, credit support, and marketing assistance for beneficiaries.
The Deputy Commissioner inquired about the approval status of beneficiaries at both the Gram Panchayat and District levels, urging officers to expedite the processing to ensure timely benefits for the community.
The meeting also addressed block-wise pendency, with all Block Development Officers (BDOs) participating via virtual mode to share updates from their respective areas.
The Deputy Commissioner emphasized the need for prompt action to clear any outstanding applications and directed the Superintendent of ITI to issue certificates to beneficiaries upon completion of their training.
The Deputy Commissioner stressed the importance of awareness programs to encourage more artisans to register under the scheme and avail themselves of its benefits.
The meeting was attended by GM DIC, ACD, LDM, BDOs, and the Superintendent of ITI from Poonch and Mendhar, among others.
