BARI BRAHMANA: NCC unit of Dogra Degree College and sports Committee Dogra Degree College in collaboration with Pir Panjal Adventurers organized a one day trekking and adventure activity at Bajalta Jammu.
The programme was a kind of expedition and exploration programme in the hills of Pir Panjal range at Bajalta. More than 30 students participated in the trekking and adventure activity. The event comprised of certain activities such as Rapling, Camp pitching, Wall Climbing (Jumaring), trekking and many more. The experts for the trekking and the adventure programme were Parnav Bandral and Neeraj who gave the students various instructions regarding the equipments of Mountaineering Rapling and Rock climbing. They also equipped the students with basic knowledge about Rapling (to climb off from the rock), Tent Pitching (activity to install a tent during the adventure), Rock Climbing (to climb on the rock with the help of Jumar, an instrument used for climbing the rock) and trekking.
In Rapling activity, the students were first briefed about the nature of the activity and the experts gave important information and instructions to the students about the Rapling. The students used the tips and techniques given by the experts to climb off from the rock in the Rapling activity. In Tent pitching activity the experts gave the students wonderful knowledge about the tent pitching as an activity, the various uses and importance of Tent pitching in any adventure activity. They also equipped the students the skill of Tent installation or making of a Tent in any adventure activity to save themselves from the rain and dangerous animal and prediators.
The third activity was of Rock Climbing wherein the students were made aware about the skills and techniques of climbing a rock with the help of Jumar, an instrument used to climb a rock. They also did the rock climbing under the guidance of the experts. The activity also comprised of the trekking activity wherein the students did the real trekking activity on the nearby hills of pir-panjal range at Bajalta and explored the hills. Dr. Samar Dev Singh Charak, Secretary, Dogra Educational Trust congratulated the NCC Unit of DDC and appreciated the efforts of Principal, Dogra Degree College and NCC Unit for organizing such activity for students for their overall development. Such programmes act as a driving force which helps to build a kind of new positive attitude and potential in the students to deal with the situations come across, he added. Dr. Bela Thakur, Principal, Dogra Degree College appreciated the spirit of the students, NCC unit and the Sports committee for organizing such a programme to make them familiar with the tricks, techniques and skills to explore, enjoy and apply them into the various adventures they come across. She also guided the ANO/CTO Mr. Gulshan Sharma to organize such more activities to build confidence, enthusiasm and a spirit of exploration among the students. The whole programme was well-conducted under the guidance and supervision of Gulshan Sharma CTO/ANO Dogra Degree College, Saval Ahmed Shiekh, Physical Instructor Dogra Degree College and Shivani Kashyap, Faculty Department of Commerce, Dogra Degree College.
