On the directions of District Development Commissioner Rajouri Mohd Nazir Sheikh, and under the supervision of DSEO and Nodal officer of BBBP and MSK Rajouri, Bilal Rashid Mir, District level Centre for women (DLCW) today has taken an initiative of distribution of stationery items among penurious girl students under Beti Bachao Beti Padhao. The study kit included stationary items like notebooks, pencil box, Pens, sharpeners, erasers, instrument box etc. District Level Centre for Women(MSK) headed by Anum Mirza (Women Welfare Officer, Rajouri) came forward with their initiative to provide free stationary kits among girl students of underprivileged section of Panchayat Saroo and Guni of district Rajouri as the education of students has affected by the closure of schools due to covid 19 pandemic and poverty is the another reason which restrict girls to have even the basic education. Moreover girls who are able to go to school often avoid schooling frequently because they cannot afford the material required for education. So, the MSK team made an effort and shortlisted some poor girl students, with assistance provided by Sarpanchs of different areas. After shortlisting done, a Women Welfare Officer came into the field along with her team and distributed stationary materials among those identified girls. The MSK team said that some parents cannot afford even basic books and notebooks for their child to write upon which has resulted in a large number of girls dropouts from school. Anum Mirza (WWO) said that, “empowerment will come only when we educate the girl child. An educated girl has the ability to bring socio- economic changes and contribute towards the prosperity and development of a country”. She further said that “the importance of girl’s education should never be overlooked. The importance of girl’s education is generational. They are the future of mankind. Every girl that receives an education is more likely to make education a priority for her children as well. Also she ensures that the DLCW team would make sure that those girl’s students never fall short of materials to study in future as well. District coordinators of Mahila Shakti Kendra, Sanjana Thakur and Nazma Sheikh also urged girl’s parents to provide proper education to their girl children and there should be no gender disparity in getting education, as education is the right of every child whether it is a girl or a boy. They also stressed upon the importance of value education.
