A two-day Capacity Building Programme for Probationary Officers of the Jammu and Kashmir Accounts Service successfully concluded today at the Northern Zonal Accountancy Training Institute (NZATI), Jammu. The programme was jointly organised by The Business School, University of Jammu, and NZATI Jammu, with the objective of strengthening administrative skills, professional competence, and governance understanding among young officers entering public service.
The training initiative brought together subject experts, academicians, and professionals to deliver sessions on key areas relevant to modern public administration. The programme was designed to equip probationary officers with a deeper understanding of organisational processes, leadership qualities, technological advancements in governance, and effective communication skills required in day-to-day administrative functioning.
On the second day of the programme, the first session was conducted by Professor Jaya Bhasin, who spoke on Organisational Behaviour and Human Resource Dynamics. She highlighted the importance of effective leadership in public administration and stressed the need for strong team building, motivation, and people-centric management practices. She also underlined how behavioural understanding within organisations contributes to improved efficiency, coordination, and service delivery in government institutions.
The second session focused on the growing role of technology in governance. It was delivered by AI Educator and Branding Consultant Sumit Khajuria, who introduced participants to emerging applications of Artificial Intelligence in administrative systems. He demonstrated how AI-based tools can improve efficiency in decision-making processes, enhance data analysis capabilities, and support citizen-centric service delivery. He also explained how digital transformation is reshaping governance frameworks and enabling faster, more transparent administrative responses.
Another important session of the day was conducted by Jasleen Kour from Branding Elves, who led an interactive workshop on Professional Communication and Presentation Skills. The session focused on enhancing public speaking abilities, refining presentation techniques, and improving stakeholder engagement. Participants were also guided on maintaining professional conduct in official settings, with practical insights into effective communication strategies required for administrative roles.
The programme concluded with a valedictory session and certificate distribution ceremony. During the closing session, participants shared their reflections on the training programme and expressed appreciation for the knowledge and practical exposure gained over the two days. Certificates were distributed to all participants who successfully completed the training, marking the formal conclusion of the programme.
On the occasion, Director Finance and Principal NZATI, Rajesh Talwar, acknowledged the contribution of the academic team from The Business School, University of Jammu. He presented a token of appreciation to Director Professor Amisha Gupta and Associate Professor Dr. Farah Choudhary in recognition of their support and valuable contribution to the successful conduct of the programme.
Officials noted that such capacity-building initiatives play a crucial role in preparing young officers for the complexities of public administration. The programme was described as an important step towards enhancing institutional efficiency and strengthening governance systems through continuous professional development and knowledge sharing.
