The Union Territory of Jammu & Kashmir has earned national acclaim with its tableau winning the Second-Best Tableau Award at the 77th Republic Day Parade 2026, held at Kartavya Path in New Delhi.
The award, announced as part of the official honours for States and Union Territories, highlights the rich cultural heritage and creative excellence of Jammu Kashmir on the nation’s most prestigious ceremonial platform.Reacting to the achievement, BJP Spokesperson and former Vice Chairman, Balbir Ram Rattan, termed the honour a moment of immense pride for the people of the Union Territory.
He said the recognition goes far beyond visual presentation and stands as a national acknowledgment of Jammu Kashmir’s art, culture, and enduring traditions. He said that the award reflects the cultural revival, resilience, and renewed confidence of the region.Balbir stated that the tableau presented a powerful visual narrative of Jammu Kashmir’s artistic brilliance, and cultural diversity.
“Securing the second-best tableau award at the Republic Day Parade is not merely a competitive success. It is a national recognition of our artisans, folk performers, designers, and cultural custodians who have preserved and promoted our heritage through generations,” he said.
Emphasizing the wider impact of the recognition, Balbir said such national-level appreciation plays a crucial role in strengthening cultural preservation and encouraging youth participation. He noted that when regional culture is celebrated on a national stage, it inspires younger generations to reconnect with their roots, pursue traditional art forms, and develop pride in their cultural identity.
He added that the honour would motivate artisans and cultural institutions to aim for greater excellence and broader recognition.Balbir further observed that the success of the tableau reflects the collective efforts of artists, cultural departments, and administrators who worked tirelessly to present an authentic and dignified representation of Jammu Kashmir. He said the achievement also strengthens the Union Territory’s cultural diplomacy and reinforces its contribution to India’s pluralistic and diverse heritage.
