The District Administration Ramban today distributed PM SVANidhi credit cards and loan sanction letters among beneficiaries in the district, following the nationwide launch of the PM SVANidhi Credit Card by the Hon’ble Prime Minister, Narendra Modi, from Thiruvananthapuram, Kerala. The initiative is a significant step towards the welfare of the urban poor, particularly street vendors and hawkers, by enhancing their access to institutional credit and strengthening their livelihoods.
The district-level programme was held in the Conference Hall and was presided over by the Member of Legislative Assembly Ramban, Arjun Singh Raju, and Deputy Commissioner Ramban, Mohammad Alyas Khan. The event was attended by officials from the district administration, representatives of banking institutions, and beneficiaries of the PM SVANidhi scheme. The gathering reflected a coordinated effort between the administration and financial institutions to ensure the effective implementation of the scheme at the grassroots level.
While handing over the PM SVANidhi Credit Cards and loan sanction letters to the beneficiaries, the MLA and the Deputy Commissioner emphasized that the initiative would bring substantial benefits to street vendors and hawkers in the district. They highlighted that easy and timely access to institutional credit is essential for small vendors to sustain and expand their businesses, meet daily working capital requirements, and move towards financial self-reliance. The leaders noted that the PM SVANidhi Credit Card would further simplify credit access and provide flexibility to beneficiaries in managing their finances.
The MLA congratulated the beneficiaries and the people of Ramban for availing the benefits of the welfare-oriented scheme. He stated that such initiatives demonstrate the Government’s commitment to inclusive development and the upliftment of economically weaker sections. He encouraged the beneficiaries to make productive use of the financial assistance and maintain good repayment discipline so that they can continue to benefit from future stages of the scheme.
Deputy Commissioner Mohammad Alyas Khan provided detailed information about the PM SVANidhi scheme and its provisions. He informed that the scheme offers collateral-free working capital loans to eligible street vendors in three progressive stages of ?10,000, ?20,000, and ?50,000. He explained that beneficiaries who repay their loans on time become eligible for higher loan amounts in subsequent stages, thereby supporting gradual business growth. The Deputy Commissioner assured that all eligible beneficiaries in Ramban district would be covered under the scheme in a transparent and time-bound manner, in close coordination with banking institutions and municipal authorities.
On the occasion, two beneficiaries were provided PM SVANidhi Credit Cards, enabling them to access credit in a convenient and flexible manner. Additionally, eight beneficiaries were sanctioned third-stage collateral-free loans, reflecting their successful repayment history and progress under the scheme. One fresh loan sanction letter was also issued each by Punjab National Bank, Jammu and Kashmir Bank, and the State Bank of India, highlighting the active participation of banks in supporting the initiative.
To mark the 150th anniversary of India’s National Song “Vande Mataram,” the participants collectively recited the song during the programme, adding a sense of patriotic fervour and unity to the event. The recitation underscored the spirit of national pride and collective responsibility that underpins welfare initiatives aimed at empowering citizens.
The programme concluded with interactions between officials and beneficiaries, during which the benefits, procedures, and responsibilities associated with the PM SVANidhi scheme were discussed. The district administration reiterated its commitment to ensuring effective delivery of welfare schemes and supporting street vendors in achieving sustainable livelihoods and financial inclusion.
