Shri Rajiv Chunni, Chairman of SOS International, today called on Lieutenant Governor Shri Manoj Sinha at Raj Bhavan and apprised him of various welfare issues concerning the displaced persons from Pakistan-occupied Jammu and Kashmir (PoJK).
During the meeting, Shri Chunni highlighted the long-pending demands and challenges being faced by the PoJK displaced community, particularly in areas related to rehabilitation, livelihood opportunities, housing, education, and social security.
He emphasized the need for sustained administrative attention to ensure that the displaced families receive adequate support and benefits in a dignified and timely manner.
Shri Chunni was accompanied by Shri Dheeraj Sharma, former Sarpanch of Dhangri in Rajouri district, who also shared ground-level concerns and practical difficulties faced by the affected families. The delegation discussed issues related to access to government welfare schemes and stressed the importance of inclusive policies aimed at improving the quality of life of the displaced population.
The Lieutenant Governor listened patiently to the issues raised and assured the delegation that the administration remains committed to the welfare and upliftment of all sections of society, including PoJK displaced persons.
Later, a separate delegation of mushroom growers led by Shri Aman Sharma also met the Lieutenant Governor and apprised him of matters related to mushroom cultivation and marketing in the Union Territory.
The growers highlighted the potential of mushroom farming as a sustainable livelihood option, especially for rural youth and small farmers. They discussed the need for technical support, training, financial assistance, and improved market linkages to enhance production and income generation.
The Lieutenant Governor acknowledged the contribution of mushroom growers to the agri-based economy and assured them of the government’s continued support to promote entrepreneurship and diversification in the agriculture sector. He emphasized that the administration is focused on strengthening farmer welfare, encouraging innovation, and creating sustainable income avenues. The interactions reflected the government’s open-door policy and commitment to addressing public concerns through dialogue and participatory governance.
