Following the abandonment of the fourth T20I between India and South Africa due to dense fog on Wednesday, the Uttar Pradesh Cricket Association (UPCA) has issued detailed guidelines for ticket refunds for spectators at Lucknow’s Ekana International Cricket Stadium.
The UPCA has outlined separate procedures for online and offline ticket holders. Fans who purchased tickets online will receive refunds digitally through their original mode of payment and will be notified via their registered email addresses.
The spectators who bought the ticket offline can get a refund on 20 and 21 December between 11 am IST and 6 pm IST from the box office at Gate No. 2 of the Ekana International Cricket Stadium. The offline buyers must be present in person and are required to carry their government-issued ID, original physical ticket and duly filled refund form, which should contain accurate bank details for a smooth refund process. Refund counters will be operational at the venue during the stipulated hours.
Refunds will be initiated only after verification of the submitted documents and will be credited directly to the respective bank accounts.
Earlier, BCCI Secretary Devajit Saikia had stated that ticket refunds fell under the jurisdiction of the host state association, prompting the UPCA to issue the refund guidelines. Confirming the process, UPCA secretary Prem Manohar Gupta said in an official release, “Spectators who booked tickets online will receive a refund of the ticket amount through their original mode of payment.”
The abandonment of the Lucknow match raised questions over the scheduling of international fixtures in North India during winter. Addressing the issue, BCCI Vice President Rajeev Shukla said the board would review venue allocations and consider shifting matches to southern or western India, where weather conditions are more conducive.
The fifth and final T20I between India and South Africa will be played at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad, where weather conditions are expected to be more favourable, with minimal risk of fog disrupting play.
