Life skills are equally vital in shaping well-rounded and resilient individuals. These include communication, decision-making, problem-solving, critical thinking, and financial literacy. Life skills education empowers adolescent girls to manage stress, resist peer pressure, and advocate for their rights. Health and nutrition awareness, including knowledge of reproductive health and hygiene, further enables girls to take control of their well-being. Such skills are crucial for fostering self-esteem and enabling girls to navigate social and economic challenges effectively. Government policies and programmes play a pivotal role in promoting skill development among adolescent girls. Initiatives such as vocational training schemes, scholarship programmes, and community-based skill centres aim to improve access to education and training, especially in rural and marginalized areas. Public–private partnerships and collaborations with non-governmental organizations have expanded the reach of skill development programmes, ensuring that training is aligned with local market needs. These efforts also emphasize mentorship, career guidance, and placement support to enhance long-term outcomes. Community and family support is essential for the success of skill development initiatives. Awareness campaigns that challenge gender stereotypes and highlight the value of educating and skilling girls help create a supportive environment. When families recognize the economic and social benefits of investing in girls’ skills, participation and retention in training programmes improve significantly. Schools and local institutions also serve as important platforms for identifying talent and nurturing aspirations. Skill development of adolescent girls is not merely a welfare measure but a strategic investment in human capital. By providing girls with educational, vocational, and life skills, societies can unlock their full potential and promote gender equality, economic growth, and social progress.
