The Indian Army, through its White Knight Gunners under the aegis of the White Knight Corps, successfully conducted a large-scale Multi-Specialty Medical Camp at the Maj Gen Atma Singh Memorial located on NH-44 in Ban, Nagrota. The camp, held on 30 November 2025, was aimed at providing essential medical services to the residents of Domei, Ban and several nearby villages, ensuring access to quality healthcare for communities living in remote and underserved regions.
The initiative formed a significant part of Operation Sadbhavana, a long-running outreach programme of the Indian Army that seeks to enhance the welfare, health and education standards of local populations in border and rural areas. The camp brought together a dedicated team of Army medical specialists who worked in close coordination with the local civil administration to deliver a wide range of healthcare services free of cost.
The medical camp featured multiple specialties, providing consultations and check-ups in General Medicine, Paediatrics, Gynaecology and Ayurveda Medicine.
Residents who often struggle to access specialized healthcare due to geographical and economic limitations benefitted greatly from the presence of expert doctors and diagnostic facilities at their doorstep.
Along with clinical consultations, the event included health awareness sessions focusing on critical topics such as personal hygiene, nutrition, preventive healthcare measures and women’s health.
These interactive sessions aimed at promoting long-term wellness and educating the community about steps essential for maintaining a healthy lifestyle. Special emphasis was laid on maternal health, child care, seasonal disease prevention and the importance of early diagnosis.
Over 150 locals attended the camp and availed themselves of the free medical assistance offered. Many patients appreciated the Army’s initiative, noting that such camps bring much-needed expert healthcare to rural areas where regular access to doctors and specialists is limited. Medicines were also distributed without any cost to those diagnosed with common ailments, ensuring immediate relief and continued treatment.
The medical team interacted patiently with visitors, addressing their concerns and providing guidance on follow-up care. For elderly residents and women from isolated hamlets, the opportunity to consult specialists without the need for long travel was a significant relief.
The camp reflects the Indian Army’s sustained efforts to build trust, goodwill and cooperation with the local population of Nagrota and adjoining regions. Through Operation Sadbhavana, the Army continues to undertake initiatives aimed at improving the quality of life for the local communities-be it through medical outreach, educational support or infrastructure development.
The White Knight Gunners reiterated their commitment to organizing such impactful welfare programmes in the future, ensuring that essential healthcare reaches even the most remote corners of the region. The success of the camp once again highlighted the Army’s unwavering dedication to community service and its proactive role in strengthening civil-military relations in Jammu and Kashmir.
