In a significant political engagement aimed at reviewing developmental priorities and strengthening grassroots governance in the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir, former Deputy Chief Minister Dr. Nirmal Singh met Lieutenant Governor Shri Manoj Sinha at the Raj Bhavan today. The meeting underscored ongoing efforts to accelerate development initiatives across rural and semi-urban belts, particularly in the Kathua and Billawar regions.
Dr. Singh, a senior leader known for his extensive public outreach, was accompanied by Er. Bikram Singh, District Development Council (DDC) Member from Billawar; Ms. Neeru Rajput, DDC Member from Mandli; and Shri Mohit Gupta, a prominent youth leader of the Bharatiya Janata Yuva Morcha (BJYM). Their presence highlighted the growing role of elected grassroots representatives and youth leadership in local governance.
During the meeting, the delegation apprised the Lieutenant Governor of various issues concerning infrastructure development, road connectivity, drinking water supply, and the status of ongoing government schemes in their respective constituencies. They also discussed challenges being faced by local bodies in ensuring timely execution of welfare projects, emphasizing the need for enhanced coordination between district-level institutions and administrative departments. Youth leader Mohit Gupta raised points related to employment opportunities, skill development programmes, and greater engagement of young citizens in developmental and community-building initiatives. The Lieutenant Governor appreciated these suggestions and reaffirmed the administration’s commitment to empowering youth through targeted schemes and capacity-building interventions.
The Lieutenant Governor assured the delegation that all genuine concerns would be examined and addressed in a time-bound manner. He reiterated that the UT administration remains fully dedicated to equitable development, inclusive growth, and ensuring that the benefits of government policies reach even the most remote areas.
The meeting concluded on a positive note, with Dr. Nirmal Singh and accompanying representatives expressing confidence that the sustained collaborative approach between public representatives and the administration would continue to strengthen democratic processes and accelerate development across Jammu and Kashmir.
