Marking a significant step forward in the region’s long-awaited development agenda, MLA R S Pura Gharu Ram Bhagat and DDC Suchetgarh, senior Congress leader Taranjit Singh Tony jointly inaugurated the blacktopping of several key roads in Suchetgarh constituency. The inaugural ceremony witnessed participation from local residents, Sarpanchs, Panchs including Sarpanch Akshay Choudhary, Binni Sharma , Sham Lal Bhagat and senior officials of the PWD and R&B departments.
The road development project includes the blacktopping of a 2 km stretch from Subash Chander Chowk Bajachak to Village Magddon, and another 2 km stretch from Chakroi to Haripur to Badiyal Kaziaan, with a total length of around 4 to 5 km. The project is estimated to cost approximately ?1 crore, funded under rural development and infrastructure enhancement schemes.
Speaking on the occasion, DDC Taranjit Singh Tony took a firm stand on maintaining quality in public works. “This is public money, and there will be zero tolerance for substandard work. If any contractor is found using poor materials or delaying work, they will be blacklisted. No excuses will be entertained,” Tony warned, while inspecting the materials and initial work.
He also emphasized that every inch of pending road and infrastructure development will be completed in a time-bound manner.
“We are committed to a people-centric model of development. Every leftover road, every neglected village—will be brought into the mainstream,” Tony added, encouraging people to actively monitor ongoing works and report issues.
MLA Gharu Ram Bhagat highlighted the importance of unity and coordination between elected representatives, government departments, and the public in achieving development goals.
“Roads are the backbone of rural connectivity. We are working hand-in-hand to ensure that every road, every electricity line, every development project reaches the last mile,” Bhagat said.
Tony assured that “70% of the electricity infrastructure has already been restored. The remaining 30% will be completed soon. No area will be left behind,”. He also acknowledged the role of local leadership and civil society in highlighting priority areas and ensuring execution.
In a rare show of cross-party unity and focus on grassroots development, both leaders called upon the administration and the public to work together.
“Politics aside, development is our shared mission. Let’s ensure that Suchetgarh becomes a model constituency,” Tony and Bhagat said in a joint appeal.
With the current momentum, more road and infrastructure projects are expected to be announced in the coming months, with leftover and interior roads being taken up on top priority.
