The Indian Army continues to uphold its proud tradition of standing by its veterans and their families, recognizing them as an inseparable part of its extended family. In a remarkable gesture that reflects this enduring bond, the Army organized an interaction with Ex-Servicemen and widows at Khanetar in District Poonch on October 12, 2025. The event was aimed at acknowledging the invaluable contributions of those who have served the nation with courage and devotion, while also addressing welfare-related concerns that affect the Ex-Servicemen community and their dependents.
During the interactive session, a wide range of welfare issues and administrative matters were discussed in detail. These included topics such as the Ex-Servicemen Contributory Health Scheme (ECHS), Canteen Stores Department (CSD) facilities, pension-related issues, and other important welfare measures. Officers and representatives present at the event listened attentively to the concerns raised by the veterans and their families, assuring them of timely redressal and continued assistance. The participants were also briefed about several new initiatives launched for the welfare of Ex-Servicemen in the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir, such as JK Samadhan, the Legal Consultation Cell, and the Lieutenant Governor’s Special Sahayata Kendra (SSK). These initiatives aim to simplify grievance resolution, provide legal support, and ensure that assistance reaches veterans and widows efficiently.
The interaction witnessed enthusiastic participation from a large number of veterans and their dependents, many of whom appreciated the Army’s sustained efforts to remain connected with its retired personnel. The event provided a valuable platform for open dialogue between the veterans and the serving officers, helping bridge communication gaps and fostering mutual trust and understanding. The atmosphere was marked by camaraderie and deep respect, as the veterans shared their experiences and expressed their gratitude for the Army’s constant support even after retirement.
The Indian Army, while reaffirming its unwavering commitment to the welfare of veterans and their families, reiterated that the bond between the serving soldiers and the retired community is one of respect, gratitude, and shared pride. It assured all attendees that issues raised during the interaction would be addressed promptly through the relevant channels. The Army’s representatives emphasized that every effort would be made to ensure that veterans and widows continue to receive the care, respect, and assistance they deserve.
The veterans and widows in attendance expressed heartfelt thanks to the Indian Army for its continued outreach and support. The event at Khanetar once again highlighted the Army’s dedication to upholding the welfare, dignity, and honour of its veteran fraternity-an enduring relationship that lies at the core of the Indian Army’s ethos and values.
