Leaders pay tribute to Maharishi Valmiki on Jayanti, emphasize importance of truth, social harmony

On the occasion of Maharishi Valmiki Jayanti, prominent leaders, including President Droupadi Murmu, Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Congress leader Rahul Gandhi, extended their greetings and paid tribute to the revered sage.
President Murmu said that the ‘Ramayana’ composed by Adikavi Valmiki has bestowed upon human society the inspiring story of Lord Shri Ram and the legacy of ideal life values.
Calling Maharishi Valmiki a symbol of spiritual awakening, compassion, and human ideals, the President paid obeisance to his sacred memory.
She further mentioned that Maharishi Valmiki is counted among the foundational pillars of Indian culture and expressed hope that citizens will imbibe his ideals in their conduct.
Prime Minister Modi emphasized the profound impact of Maharishi Valmiki’s teachings on Indian society, saying, “Since ancient times, his pure and ideal thoughts have had a profound impact on our society and families.” PM Modi added that Maharishi Valmiki’s conceptual beacon, based on social harmony, will continue to illuminate the lives of all citizens forever.
Gandhi highlighted Maharishi Valmiki’s significant contributions to literature and spirituality, emphasizing the importance of his teachings in promoting truth, justice, love, and the path of righteousness. “Through his life philosophy, he inspired humanity to walk the path of truth, justice, love, and righteousness,” he said.
Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge quoted Maharishi Valmiki, saying, “Harboring ill feelings towards someone makes one’s own mind impure.” He highlighted Maharishi Valmiki’s teachings on social justice, love, and duty, and stressed the need for collective efforts to empower marginalized communities.
Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath highlighted how Valmiki’s Ramayana has inspired human society through the story of Lord Ram. He emphasized the epic’s lessons on truth, justice, and righteousness.
Maharishi Valmiki, revered as the Adi Kavi or the first poet of the Sanskrit language, is best known for authoring the epic Ramayana. His teachings emphasize the importance of truth, justice, and righteousness, inspiring generations to follow the path of dharma. “His conceptual beacon, based on social harmony, will continue to illuminate the lives of all citizens forever,” PM Modi added. Maharishi Valmiki Jayanti is celebrated annually to mark the birth anniversary of the revered sage. The festival falls on the full moon day (Purnima) of the Hindu month of Ashwin and is also known as Pargat Diwas.

On this day, devotees often participate in Shobha Yatra processions and offer prayers to Maharishi Valmiki, seeking his blessings and guidance.
The leaders’ tributes to Maharishi Valmiki reflect their commitment to upholding the values of social justice, equality, and compassion, inspiring people to work towards a more just and harmonious society.
