new delhi, Sept 30
As hundreds of people belonging to minority community created ruckus in the state capital late on Monday night protesting a social media post against the slogan ‘I love Mohammed’ Chief Minister Pushakar Singh Dhami said some forces were trying to disturb peace and create riot-like situation in the state and warned them of stern action if they tried to disturb peace and tranquility in the state.
Responding to Monday night’s communal bedlam in the town, the chief said,”It’s a well planned conspiracy to disturb peace and create disorliness in the state amid our festive season.
These forces are unable to see a strong India and do not support ‘ek Bharat shresth Bharat’ (one India, great India). They are unable to digest the resolution of a developed India under the leadership of Prime minister Narendra Modi. They are consistently trying to fuel riots and disturb peace in the society. These anti national forces are making moves to poison the society but no one will be spared by the law.”
He further said, “What’s the point in roaming around with the plank of your affectionate’s name. If you respect and love someone, his honour lies in your conduct, not in manifestation of frenzy mob, riots and religious bigotry. Devbhumi Uttarakhand is a land of chardham. Large centres of faith are located in the state and anarchy will not tolerated here.
Whereever situation like this arises, law has been harsh against it.”
It started with a group of minority community protested against a social media post against “I love Mohammed” slogan by one, Gulshan, at the Patel Nagar market police post during the night. As they lodged their complaint a large crowd began to gather at the police post. Soon, over 300 people gathered at the police post, leading to a long traffic jam on the roads around the Lal Pul near Niranjanpur Vegetable mandi.
Seeing at the crowd and their unruly behaviour, more security forces were called in from other police stations in the city. The protesters were told that their complaint was filed and the accused was taken into police custody. The police assured them of necessary legal action against the accused but the crowd was unwilling to leave. They had blocked the road with the slogan “I Love Mohammed.”
Fearing escalation of the protesters’ uproar the police resorted to minor lathicharge to force them to clear the road for traffic movement. Station House Officer (SHO) Patel Nagar, Chandrabhan Adhikari informed “complaint regarding social media comment was received and action being taken. The accused was taken into police custody but protesters continued with their stir on the roads forcing security forces to use force. This was done to prevent the situation turning into unrest.
