BANI, Sept 14
“It is a proud moment not just for Bani but for the entire Union Territory of Jammu & Kashmir. Anekha Devi’s remarkable selection in the Indian Women’s Blind Cricket Team for the upcoming World Cup is an inspiration for all. Her journey proves that talent from even the remotest corners can shine on the world stage if given the right encouragement,” said Dr. Rameshwar Singh, MLA Bani, while extending heartfelt congratulations and best wishes to Anekha and her family.
Anekha Devi, daughter of Bachiter Singh and resident of Machhedi (Bajohi), Tehsil Lohi Malhar, has brought immense pride to her native region, Kathua district, and the entire Union Territory with her selection in the Indian Women’s Blind Cricket Team for the upcoming World Cup.
Belonging to a remote and hilly area, Anekha’s success story is one of determination, resilience, and unwavering passion for cricket despite several challenges.
Dr. Rameshwar Singh further added, “I wholeheartedly congratulate Anekha on this achievement. She is a true role model for our youth, particularly young girls from rural backgrounds, who now have an example to follow. I pray for her success in the World Cup and am confident she will bring laurels to the nation as well as J&K.”
Describing her achievement as a landmark moment in the sports history of the region, Dr. Rameshwar stressed that her selection has proved how perseverance can overcome limitations and open new horizons. “Prime Minister Narendra Modi has often highlighted the rising achievements of girls in sports, praising them as symbols of India’s growing strength and progress. He has repeatedly emphasized that daughters of the nation are excelling globally, breaking barriers, and inspiring society with their determination and hard work. Anekha’s selection stands as a proud example of this vision,” Dr. Rameshwar said.
