new delhi, Sept 11
In a bid to curb rising cyber fraud, the Haryana government has rolled out a six-point action plan and begun implementing the Central Cyber Reporting Portal along with the National Cyber Crime Helpline Number 1930. The initiative aims to strengthen digital safety, ensure faster police response, and improve inter-departmental coordination across the state. Additional Chief Secretary (Home) Dr. Sumita Misra said, “Citizens can now report cases of cyber fraud, financial scams, identity theft, and online harassment either through the portal (www.cybercrime. gov.in) or by calling 1930.” She said, “The Home Department has issued comprehensive cyber security directives to build a robust safety ecosystem for both government departments and public services.” The action plan includes integrating cyber security into digital literacy programmes and awareness campaigns at state and district levels. Citizens will also receive regular updates and enhanced guidance through the official “Cyber Dost” social media handles promoted by the Home Ministry’s cyber security wing. To ensure wider reach, information about the helpline and reporting portal will be prominently displayed at police stations, public information centres, government offices, and other state facilities. Cyber awareness modules will also be embedded in all state government schemes and programs.
Dr. Misra said local officials, community leaders, and educational institutions will play a key role in spreading awareness at the grassroots. Schools and teacher training institutes have been directed to include cyber security topics in their curricula, ensuring that digital safety awareness reaches both students and educators across Haryana.
She also emphasised that citizens should promptly report cybercrimes to improve chances of recovery and action against offenders.
