Arvind Gupta, Ravinder Raina inspect flood-affected areas in Jammu West, assure immediate relief for residents

MLA Jammu West, Arvind Gupta along with Former BJP J&K President Ravinder Raina, today conducted an extensive tour of flood-affected areas in his constituency, including Patta Chungi, Kabir Basti, Durga Lane, Wazir Lane, Colonel Colony and Anand Lane, to assess the damage caused by recent heavy rains and flash floods.
The inspection aimed to evaluate the extent of losses suffered by residents and ensure that immediate relief measures are implemented.
During the visit, Arvind Gupta observed that in Patta Chungi, the main irrigation distributary was blocked, causing floodwater to inundate several shops. The MLA immediately cleared the blockage, preventing further waterlogging and damage to commercial establishments. In Kabir Basti, Durga Lane, Wazir Lane, Anand Lane, and Colonel Colony, overflowing nallahs had backflowed into residential areas, resulting in significant damage to homes and personal property worth lakh of Rupees.
Highlighting the urgency of the situation, Gupta instructed the administration to desilt the Nallahs immediately to mitigate the risk of further flooding in the coming days.
Addressing the affected residents, Arvind Gupta said, “Our foremost priority is to ensure that families affected by these floods receive timely relief and compensation. I have instructed the administration to conduct a detailed assessment of the losses and provide immediate financial and material assistance to those impacted. No resident should be left without support during this critical time.” Gupta was accompanied by prominent local leaders and former representatives, including former BJP J&K President Ravinder Raina, ex-corporators Sucha Singh and Sanjay Baru, Jatin Sethi, Neelam Nargotra, Jeet Angral, Mandal Presidents Anil Angral and Kushant Prajapati, Keshav Chopra, Atul Bakshi, Ashok Singh, Arun Dubey, Rajiv Saini, Jitendra Khajuria, Chaman Lal Bhagat, Upesh Sharma and others, who assisted in coordinating relief efforts and gathering first-hand reports from residents.

The MLA emphasized that monitoring and support would continue until the affected areas are fully rehabilitated. He further assured that the administration has been instructed to prioritize restoration of drains, roads, and other essential infrastructure to prevent similar incidents in future.
Gupta’s proactive approach underscores his commitment to the welfare of constituents, ensuring that flood-affected residents receive the assistance they urgently need while preventive measures are put in place to safeguard the community.
