The Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) on Thursday slammed the AAP government in Punjab, alleging it has abandoned flood-affected people and failed to announce any relief measures.
Senior Akali leader and Youth Akali Dal general secretary Kuldeep Singh Lahoria claimed that while the government remains absent, SAD Vice President and Halqa Incharge Ravinder Singh Brahmpura has been continuously providing personal financial assistance for relief operations.
Addressing reporters here, Lahoria said, “Today, when there was another shortage of diesel for the tractors working on the Goindwal Sahib embankment, we brought the matter to the attention of Brahmpura. Accepting our immediate request, he sent another Rs 21,000 for diesel without a moment’s delay.”
The Youth Akali Dal General Secretary added that this was part of Brahmpura’s ongoing support. “Even before this, during his visit to the villages of Dhunda and Bhail, he contributed Rs 50,000 from his personal funds for relief work. This proves that he is connected to the people at the grassroots level,” he said. Criticising the state government, Lahoria alleged, “On one hand, leaders like Brahmpura are repeatedly providing personal aid, and on the other hand, there is the government.
, which has not yet taken notice or provided a single rupee of support, leaving people to their fate.”
He said the people of the constituency are grateful to Brahmpura for his service during this difficult time.
Others present on the occasion included Hardeep Singh Khakh, Surmukh Singh, Harjit Singh Jhander, Bhupinder Singh, Harjinder Singh Fauji, Swaran Singh, Ravinder Singh, and Jaswinder Singh. –
