Joint Secretary, Union Ministry of MSME chaired a meeting on accelerating the development activities for Ladakh

Dr. Milind Ramteke, IAS, Joint Secretary, Union Ministry of MSME chaired an impactful meeting at Leh to accelerate the development activities of the Ministry for Ladakh. Union Ministry of MSME through field office MSME-Development Nucleus Cell, Ladakh,implements various schemes and activities for the benefit of MSME Sector for Ladakh with jurisdiction of all District’s. The activities including Entrepreneurship Awareness Program, Intellectual Property Rights Awareness Program, Procurement Marketing Support Scheme Awareness Program, PM-Vishwakarma Seminar, PM-Vishwakarma Awareness Workshop, Entrepreneurship & Skill Development Program, Management Development Program, Reimbursement of Barcode Expenditure, Reimbursement of Stall Charges, To and From Charges, Advertising Expenditure for participating in various exhibitions conducted in all parts of the Country. He gave directions to upgrade the existing industrial estates in Leh and Kargil through MSME Cluster Development Program, also instructed to explore development of new Industrial Estate in the districts of Ladakh through the scheme. After detailed discussion about the supply chain in developing the Pashmina Shawals directed the officials to prepare road map for improving the share of Pashmina products in the world from existing less than 10% to maximum level and to remove the bottlenecks if any in the process to improve the economy of the citizens of Ladakh. Products made from Sea Buck thorn and its medicinal value were discussed thread bare it was decided that stake holders may work jointly with other Govt. organizations likeMGIRI – Mahatma Gandhi Institute for Rural Industrialization to improve the value of products made from Sea Buck Thorn through proper Marketing and adopting International packaging techniques.
PM Vishwakarma scheme of the ministry wasreviewed in detail and UTLBC was instructed to remove the difficulty in small value loans which are very essential for the economy of Ladakh. G. Velladurai, IEDS Jt.Director MSME DNC Leh, Rudra Goud PT IAS, Sec. Ind&Com,Govt. of Ladakh, Rajesh Kumar, Director KVIC, Convenor UTLBC, Officers from Directorate of Industries & Commerce and senior officers were present in the Meeting.
Dr. Milind Ramteke, IAS, Joint Secretary, Union Ministry of MSME visited the Pashmina wool processing plant at Industrial Estate Leh to understand the on-ground issues and support needed to boost promotion of the world class sector. He also visited the area where Sea Buck thorn medicinal plant is grown to understand practically for exploring promotion of the products from the same. Later in the day he visitedNamgayal from Shey Village in Ladakh, Carpenter Artisan under PM Vishwakarma Scheme beneficiary who has already trained, received the stipend and toolkit. Namgayal also received Rs. 1,00,000/- loan under the scheme to purchase Multi-purpose Plainer machine to develop his business, he has also repaid 17 instalments of the total 18 instalments under the scheme. He has praised the artisan for rightly using the scheme to achieve the objectives of the scheme.
