Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) handed over a memorandum to the President of India through the Divisional Commissioner Jammu and demanded that Jammu and Kashmir be given the status of a full state as soon as possible and also demanded that the people of Jammu and Kashmir should get their full rights. A delegation of the party headed by the State President of Bahujan Samaj Party(BSP) Darshan Rana handed over a memorandum to the Div Com Jammu and along with the restoration of full statehood to Jammu and Kashmir, also put forward other issues prominently. Along with the State President of the party Darshan Rana, the delegation also included the State Vice President of the party Charanjit Chargotra, Haji Shak Mohammad, Tilak Raj Bhagat, Gani Aftab, Rajkumar Thapa Pritam Chand, District President Tarsem Lal and Gurdev Singh and other senior leaders of the party were also present. Talking to Journalists after giving a memorandum to the Divisional Commissioner Jammu, BSP President Darshan Rana said that a memorandum has been given to the President of India through the Divisional Commissioner Jammu regarding other important issues including restoration of full statehood to Jammu Kashmir. He told that on behalf of the party, this demand has been placed prominently by giving memorandum to the District Commissioner in other districts of Jammu Kashmir as well. He said that after making Jammu Kashmir a Union Territory, the culture of the state is being harmed. Before 5 August 2019, Jammu Kashmir had a separate identity, but after Jammu Kashmir was declared a Union Territory, the separate identity of the state has been abolished. The BSP chief said that even after 6 years of Jammu Kashmir becoming a Union Territory, no change has been seen in the state. Local youth are not getting employment opportunities and people from outside states are getting priority. Along with this, he said that a special scheme should be made to make the employees working temporarily in various government departments permanent. And only the local people should have the right over the lands of the people of the state Jammu and Kashmir. He said that now the time has come that the Central Government should restore full statehood to Jammu and Kashmir as soon as possible so that the people of the state can get their rights.
In his demand letter, he reminded the government that the government had promised that full statehood would be restored to Jammu and Kashmir soon but till now the government does not seem to be serious on this important issue. On the other hand, members of the party’s units of other districts including District Udhampur, Kathua, Reasi and also submitted a memorandum to the District Deputy Commissioner and informed about their Demands.
