SOLKI, KALAKOTE, july 30
An extraordinary discovery unfolded today near the Solki bridge, where ongoing earthwork for the National Highway connecting Siot to Kalakote led to the unearthing of a natural, ancient Shiv Cave. The cave, estimated to be approximately 50 feet long, contains naturally formed geological features resembling a Shiv Ling, a snake’s head, and a cow’s body.
The remarkable find was first made by JCB machine operator Kulbir Singh, who promptly halted his work upon recognizing the significance of the discovery. He immediately informed local residents, who quickly gathered at the site. A spontaneous outpouring of devotion followed, with people offering flowers, incense, and performing Shiva Aarti.
Among the onlookers, local resident Mohammed Ashraf shared an intriguing anecdote, stating, “Many times we have seen a black-colored, large snake, more than 20 feet long, which takes five minutes to cross the road, causing vehicles to stop on both sides.” He also noted the presence of an ancient, now ruined, fort located uphill from the newly discovered cave.
Authorities from the Kalakote administration have also visited the site to assess the discovery.
Further details regarding the cave’s historical and geological significance are awaited as investigations continue.
