Orientation Programme for Semester III & V Students at Dogra Degree College

Dogra Degree College (DDC), successfully conducted its Orientation Programme for Semester III and V students of BBA, B.Com, and BA on 25th July 2025 in the college auditorium.The programme commenced with an invocation through the Lighting of the Lamp and Floral Tribute to Maa Saraswati, symbolizing the enlightenment of knowledge. The formal proceedings were gracefully compered by Ms. Shivani Kashyap, Assistant Professor, Department of Commerce, who warmly welcomed the dignitaries and the students.
The Welcome Address was delivered by Dr. Bela Thakur, Director, Dogra Group of Colleges and Principal, DDC, who enthusiastically greeted the students and proudly shared the prestigious milestone of the college achieving Autonomous Status. She motivated the students to actively participate in internships, classroom activities, seminars, and various engagements to gain holistic knowledge and real-world experience. She concluded her address with an inspiring Sanskrit maxim, emphasizing the universal respect for the learned:”An imbecile is celebrated in his own home, a lord is respected in his own town, the king is worshipped in his own country, but a learned person is honoured everywhere without limitation.”She encouraged students to aspire to become a ‘Vidwan’ (knowledgeable person).
The orientation continued with a detailed presentation on Institutional Guidelines by Ms. Shikha Gupta, covering key aspects such as the Academic Calendar, Timetables, Topper Recognition, Internships, and College Policies.This was followed by an engaging experience-sharing session by Ms. Kashish (BBA 3rd Sem) whoexpressed how her journey at DDC transformed her from a naïve and underconfident student into a self-assured individual, thanks to supportive faculty and campus culture.
Ms. Vidushi (B.Com 5th Sem) shared her insights on effective time management and how she quickly adapted to the academic environment.Ms. Diksha Kumari (BA 3rd Sem) spoke about overcoming shyness and becoming more participative through regular involvement in classroom and extracurricular activities.
Dr. Dharamveer Sharma, Dean, Dogra Group of Colleges, addressed the students and emphasized the responsibilities that come with autonomy. He urged students to embrace this academic freedom by actively participating in academics, sports, and co-curricular activities to build leadership and contribute meaningfully to the community.
Although Dr. Samar Dev Singh Charak, Secretary, Dogra Educational Trust, and Sh. R.S. Katal, Member Advisory Committee and Governing Body, DLC, could not attend the event in person, they conveyed their heartfelt best wishes and motivating messages for the students. Their vision and continued support towards holistic education were acknowledged and appreciated.Dr. Gitika Sehgal, Coordinator, Dogra Educational Trust, also expressed her warm wishes to the students for the new academic session.
The Vote of Thanks was delivered by Ms. Amarpreet Kour, Assistant Professor, who expressed gratitude to the dignitaries, faculty members, and students for their enthusiastic participation.The event was coordinated by Mr. Rakesh Mohan Koul, HoD BBA & B.Com. The event was attended by Mr. Balwant Singh, HoD BA, and all faculty members of BBA, B.Com, and BA streams. The students actively participated and appreciated the insightful sessions.Dogra Degree College continues its commitment to academic excellence, personality development, and holistic education for all its students.
The event concluded with the National Anthem followed by a Group Photograph to commemorate the day.A delightful and culturally enriching Culmination of the Rutt Radde Celebration was held post-orientation adding a festive touch to the academic beginning.
