In a heartening initiative to empower and guide the youth of rural and border areas, the Indian Army organized a motivational lecture on the occasion of World Youth Skills Day at Government Senior High School, Hayatpura, in Poonch district. The event saw active participation from 70 students and parents, 6 teachers, and 10 Army personnel, creating an atmosphere of learning, interaction, and inspiration.
Recognizing the critical importance of equipping young minds with the necessary tools to succeed in a competitive world, the Army conducted the session with the aim of spreading awareness about the value of skill development and personal growth. The lecture emphasized the importance of acquiring practical skills, nurturing adaptability, and maintaining discipline-key traits that can help students overcome challenges and seize opportunities in life.
During the event, Army personnel, drawing from their own real-life experiences and structured training, spoke at length about various skill domains. These included vocational education, communication skills, leadership development, time management, and digital literacy. The speakers urged the students to go beyond textbook learning and cultivate real-world abilities that are crucial for both employment and personal development.
The lecture included interactive discussions, where students were encouraged to ask questions, share thoughts, and reflect on their goals. The Army officials shared anecdotes from their careers, focusing on values like perseverance, courage, team spirit, and commitment. These stories helped students relate the abstract ideas of skills and success to tangible examples, making the session both engaging and relatable.
Parents and teachers present at the event appreciated the Indian Army’s efforts to instill positive thinking and long-term vision among the youth. Teachers praised the initiative for creating an environment that fosters not just academic excellence but holistic personality development. Parents, too, felt that such interactions were essential in helping students develop a sense of direction and self-belief, especially in rural areas where exposure to role models and career guidance is often limited.
One of the key messages delivered during the session was the importance of being self-reliant and prepared for the evolving demands of the 21st-century workforce. The Army personnel underscored that in a fast-changing world, it is essential to continuously learn new skills, adapt to new environments, and stay committed to self-improvement.
This lecture was part of the Indian Army’s broader initiative to promote community engagement, particularly in border and remote regions where the youth often face infrastructural and informational limitations. Through such outreach programmes, the Army aims to act not only as a security force but also as a guiding presence for the next generation, especially in areas that face socio-economic challenges.
The event concluded on a positive note, with students expressing gratitude and excitement about the lessons learned. Many shared that the session had opened their eyes to new possibilities and helped them understand the importance of setting clear goals and working steadily towards them.
By organizing such motivational and skill-oriented events, the Indian Army continues to play a transformative role in nurturing young minds, strengthening the social fabric, and building a future-ready generation equipped with both confidence and capability.
