Dogra Degree College, under the aegis of its Internal Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC) and in collaboration with ICT Academy, inaugurated a three-day Faculty Development Programme (FDP) on the theme “New Age Teaching Techniques” on 10th July 2025 at the college auditorium.
The programme began with the ceremonial lighting of the lamp, followed by the presentation of a sapling to the esteemed resource person, symbolizing growth, sustainability, and the nurturing of knowledge. Faculty members from Dogra Degree College, Dogra Law College, Dogra College of Education, and Trikuta Degree College participated enthusiastically in this academic initiative aimed at enriching pedagogical practices.
The welcome address was delivered by Mr. Rakesh Mohan Koul, Head of the Departments (BBA &B.Com), who highlighted the evolution of FDPs in India from the 1980s to the present eratransitioning from basic subject training to advanced, innovation-driven, and learner-centric methodologies in teaching.
The inaugural session was graced by the presence of several dignitaries, including Dr. Bela Thakur, Director, Dogra Group of Colleges and Principal, Dogra Degree College; Dr. Dharamveer Sharma, Dean, Dogra Group of Colleges; Dr. Jay Prakash Srivastav, Principal, Dogra Law College; and Dr. Vikesh Kumar Sharma, Principal, Dogra College of Education. Also present were Mr. Lovetesh Kumar, Senior Manager, ICT Academy, and Mr. Ajaz Yousuf, Relationship Manager, ICT Academy, who joined the dignitaries during the lamp lighting and extended their support in enhancing faculty learning and development initiatives through collaborative efforts.The technical sessions were led by Ms. Arul Jothi A.P., a seasoned Soft Skills Trainer and Learning & Development Professional from ICT Academy, who has conducted over 30 FDPs across the country, impacting more than 900 educators. Day 1 focused on the VAK Learning Model, which categorizes learners into Visual, Auditory, and Kinesthetic types. Ms. Arul Jothi effectively demonstrated how understanding these learning preferences can significantly improve teaching outcomes and student engagement. The sessions included engaging activities, self-assessment exercises, and collaborative discussions that created an inclusive and reflective learning environment.
The FDP will continue until 12th July 2025, with subsequent sessions exploring topics such as Emotional Intelligence, Design Thinking, Team Building, and Stress Management, equipping educators with tools and strategies relevant to today’s evolving academic landscape.
