Udhampur admin launches ‘Dharti Aaba Janbhagidari Abhiyan’ to empower tribal communities

In consonance with the nationwide Dharti Aaba Janbhagidari Abhiyan launched by the Ministry of Tribal Affairs, the District Administration Udhampur today organized an impressive awareness and benefit saturation camp aimed at uplifting the tribal communities of the district. The event was also held to commemorate Janjatiya Gaurav Varsh.
Deputy Commissioner Saloni Rai presided over the event as the chief guest, while Member Legislative Assembly Chenani, Balwant Singh Mankotia graced the occasion as the guest of honour.
The programme was attended by Additional District Development Commissioner Rajinder Singh, DDC Narsoo Subash Chander, DDC Latti-Marothi Pinky Devi, PO Poshan Subash Dogra, Chief Planning Officer Mohd Iqbal and other senior officers from the district administration along with a large gathering of the general public.
Addressing the participants, the DC highlighted the significance of the Dharti Aaba Janbhagidari Abhiyan, a nation-wide initiative designed to achieve full saturation of the government schemes across the tribal villages. The campaign will continue till June 30 with the objective to bridge development and social gaps in tribal populated areas.
The DC urged the people of Udhampur, including civil society members, youth, former PRI representatives and voluntary organizations, to participate in the campaign and help disseminate information to ensure maximum outreach and benefit.
In his address, MLA Chenani sensitized the participants about the objectives of the Abhiyan and appealed to the tribal communities to come forward and avail themselves of the benefits of various schemes launched by the Government of India. He also instructed the concerned officers to intensify awareness campaigns at the grassroots level. He lauded the efforts of the District Administration led by Deputy Commissioner for ensuring doorstep delivery of public services. The government departments installed departmental stalls at the venue to educate the public about their respective welfare schemes. The DC and MLA Chenani inspected these stalls, interacted with the officers and reviewed the implementation status of different schemes on the ground.
The Information Department Udhampur presented a theme-based cultural programme, which was highly appreciated by the audience. The Officers from line departments also addressed the gathering, sensitizing them about government initiatives and encouraging them to take full advantage of the services and benefits being offered.
