Doda: Zila Sainik Board reviewswelfare measures for Ex-Servicemen

The annual meeting of the Zila Sainik Board Doda was convened today in the Mini Meeting Hall of the DC Office Complex, Doda.
Additional Deputy Commissioner (ADC) Anil Kumar Thakur chaired the meeting which was attended by Chief Medical Officer, Dy. SP Headquarters, District Treasury Officer, Chief Education Officer, Executive Engineer PWD (R&B), Lead Bank Officer, Post Master, Tehsildar General Manager DIC and other stakeholders. Zila Sainik Board Officer Wg Cdr Tirath Singh (Retd) projected a range of demands seeking renewal of weapon licenses for ex-servicemen, resettlement of veterans in the Union Territory of J&K, construction of the road from Dessa to Lal Draman, filling of vacant posts in the Board and issues related to the salary of security guards. Discussions were also held on improving pension disbursement system, enhancing employment and self-employment opportunities for ex-servicemen through coordination with DIC and KVIB, facilitating Ayushman Bharat healthcare benefits, providing educational support including scholarships and fee waivers to their wards and resolving land allotment and housing matters.
The meeting was also attended by unofficial members of the ex-servicemen community who provided valuable grassroots-level feedback.
Responding to the projected demands, the ADC said the preparation of a DPR for road connectivity to Dessa would be prioritized and submitted to higher authorities. He further assured the relocation of ECHS Polyclinic to a more accessible site for the benefit of veterans. He encouraged ex-servicemen to use the online system for weapon license renewal and assured them of full support and timely redressal of their grievances through effective interdepartmental coordination. He urged ex-servicemen to utilize their experience in training others in civil defence.
