The celebrations were held at Salani, Khanetar, Lower KG, and Dara Dullian, drawing large participation from local residents of all communities, age groups, and backgrounds. The event commenced with a religious sermon by a respected local Molvi, who explained the spiritual and historical significance of Eid-ul-Zuha. He highlighted the values of sacrifice, compassion, and unity that lie at the heart of the festival. A special congregational Namaz (prayer) was organized at each location, where people from different villages and communities came together to offer prayers in peace and brotherhood. The participation of such a diverse group of people reflected the deep-rooted traditions of communal harmony and coexistence in the region, further enriched by the Indian Army’s active facilitation of inclusive celebrations.
The festive atmosphere was enhanced by the presence of prominent civil dignitaries including Sarpanchs, Nambardars, and local opinion makers from neighboring villages. Their presence underlined the significance of the event as a community celebration, rather than merely a religious observance. Many villagers expressed their heartfelt appreciation towards the Indian Army for organizing the event and promoting an environment of peace, mutual respect, and unity.
The celebrations provided a platform for informal interactions between Army personnel and civilians, allowing both sides to engage in open conversations and exchange of thoughts. Local residents conveyed that such initiatives help reduce the gap between the public and the forces and foster a sense of trust, understanding, and mutual cooperation. Several community members shared that these outreach activities by the Army not only enhance the festive spirit but also reinforce the message of national integration and communal solidarity. They appreciated the Army’s efforts to go beyond their call of duty by engaging meaningfully with local communities during important cultural and religious occasions. The Indian Army, through such events, continues to demonstrate its unwavering commitment to inclusive development, people-centric engagement, and peace-building in border regions like Poonch. In areas that have historically seen challenges, such goodwill gestures play a vital role in building bridges and reinforcing the spirit of “Awam aur Jawan – Aman ka Nishan” (People and Army – Symbols of Peace). As the event concluded with greetings and festive exchanges, it stood as a vivid reminder that festivals like Eid-ul-Zuha are not just about religious observance but also about promoting human values, unity, and togetherness.
