Poonch/Rajouri/Reasi, may 25
Reaffirming its commitment to public welfare and outreach in remote areas, the Indian Army organised a Medical Patrolling Programme across the villages of Chei, Jamola, Chakli, and Balmatkote located in the districts of Poonch, Rajouri, and Reasi on 25 May 2025. The initiative aimed to provide basic healthcare services to residents in these hard-to-reach regions while raising awareness about common diseases and health management.
The Indian Army’s medical team conducted patrols in these villages and engaged with the local population, including Sarpanches, Panches, and community members. The patrolling teams offered free health check-ups, distributed essential medicines, and provided medical consultations to those in need. A total of 157 villagers benefited from the services rendered during the medical outreach.
Given the geographical remoteness and challenging terrain of these areas, access to proper healthcare remains a persistent issue. This medical patrolling initiative played a vital role in bridging that gap by delivering essential services directly to people’s doorsteps. The programme not only provided physical aid but also sought to educate the local population about the symptoms and prevention of various diseases.
As part of the outreach, a health awareness lecture was also conducted, focusing on the importance of balanced nutrition, personal hygiene, sanitation, and the adoption of healthy lifestyle practices. The session emphasized how maintaining good dietary habits and cleanliness can contribute significantly to improving overall well-being and increasing the happiness quotient among local families.
The event was met with enthusiastic participation and heartfelt appreciation from the villagers. Community members gathered in large numbers and actively interacted with the Army personnel, seeking advice and suggestions for better health and livelihood practices. The presence and assistance of the Indian Army in such isolated areas reinforced a sense of security and support among the locals.
This initiative once again highlighted the Indian Army’s multidimensional role-not only as a security force but also as a key contributor to community development and welfare. By extending healthcare to the remotest corners of the region, the Army continues to strengthen the bond of trust between the Jawan and Awam, exemplifying its unwavering commitment to national service and social responsibility.
