In response to the ongoing war and the resulting humanitarian crisis in the Union Territory of Jammu & Kashmir, the Jammu & Kashmir Dental Council has issued a heartfelt appeal to all dental practitioners to step forward with compassion and solidarity. With the region witnessing immense suffering, displacement, and trauma-particularly in sensitive border areas-the Council has called upon dental professionals to extend their services in a humanitarian spirit, offering critical support to both civilians and security personnel affected by the conflict.
The Council has urged all dental clinics across the Union Territory to prioritize immediate and preferential treatment for members of the Armed Forces, paramilitary personnel, and civilians directly impacted by the ongoing hostilities. Recognizing the urgent need for accessible healthcare, the Council has also appealed to practitioners to provide free or concessional treatment to those who have been injured, displaced, or mentally distressed due to shelling and violence in border zones. Special emphasis has been placed on ensuring that families of service personnel and civilians facing hardship are not deprived of essential oral healthcare during this time of crisis.
Furthermore, the Dental Council has stressed the importance of emergency readiness. Dental practitioners have been requested to ensure their clinics are fully equipped and prepared to respond promptly to dental emergencies and first-line trauma care, especially in the event of mass casualty or relief situations arising from the conflict. This proactive approach, the Council noted, is critical to supporting the larger healthcare infrastructure and providing timely assistance to those in distress.
Describing this initiative as a professional and moral duty, the Jammu & Kashmir Dental Council emphasized that the role of healthcare providers goes beyond clinical care-it is a beacon of hope and reassurance for communities grappling with fear, pain, and uncertainty. In its concluding message, the Council stated, “In these difficult times, your healing touch can provide more than relief-it can restore hope. Let us stand united in service to those who stand for us, and those suffering the deepest wounds of war.”
