As part of the Information Education and Communication Campaign against drug abuse, the District Administration Rajouri, in collaboration with the Social Welfare Department today organized a Nasha Mukht awareness camp here at Government Boys Model Higher Secondary School.
Deputy Commissioner Abhishek Sharma presided over the event and emphasized the crucial role of the youth in building a drug-free society. He urged students to set clear goals and stay focused on achieving them, highlighting that the years from Class 9th to 12th are pivotal in shaping their futures. Stressing the importance of parental involvement, he called upon parents to maintain constant communication with their children. He also underscored the role civil society can play in effectively curbing the menace of drug abuse.
Additional District Development Commissioner Raj Kumar Thapa also addressed the gathering and spoke about the detrimental effects of drug abuse on health and moral values. Medical expert Dr. Parvaiz Alam sensitized the students about the tactics used by drug peddlers to lure the youth into addiction and encouraged them to stay vigilant and informed.
Similar Nasha Mukht awareness camps were organized across all blocks and municipalities of the district. ADCs and SDMs actively participated in these programs within their respective jurisdictions.
District Social Welfare Officer Abdul Raheem, Chief Education Officer Iqbal Hussain, Executive Officer Municipality Yousaf-ul-Umar, Principal BHSS Muslim Wani prominent civil society members, parents, and teachers also attended the camp, extending their support to the cause.
The initiative was widely appreciated by all sections of society, with a collective resolve to continue efforts towards a drug-free Rajouri.
