The Jammu and Kashmir National Conference (JKNC) today staged a strong and vociferous protest against the barbaric killing of innocent tourists in the Pahalgam area of South Kashmir.
The party workers assembled infront of Sher-e-Kashmir Bhawan Jammu and started protest march in residency road Jammu.
Ajay Kumar Sadhotra former minister and Additional General Secretary said the barbaric killing is a great setback to the image of Jammu and Kashmir as a safe tourist destination. “It is tragic that when the region is gradually returning to normalcy, some anti-national elements are trying to sabotage the peace and economic revival of the UT,” he said. He added that such incidents are part of a larger conspiracy to instill fear among visitors and derail the progress made in recent years.
Speaking to media persons here today, Adv. Rattan Lal Gupta expressed profound grief and said that such heinous acts are not only a blot on humanity but also a grave setback to the initiatives taken by the National Conference Government headed by the Chief Minister Omar Abdullah aiming to promote peace, communal harmony, and tourism-driven economic development in the Union Territory. He said some anti-national forces are deliberately attempting to derail the peaceful atmosphere that had been steadily improving due to sustained efforts of the NC leadership over the years..
Urging the Central Government and the Union Territory administration to take immediate and concrete measures to prevent the recurrence of such tragedies, Rattan Lal Gupta emphasized the need for enhanced intelligence, stricter security arrangements, and a policy of zero tolerance against terrorism.
