After decades, the premiere of a film in the Kashmir Valley is heartening news. Once a favorite location of Bollywood, Kashmir saw the shooting of many films and even their premieres. However, terrorism and instability changed the environment, and eventually, film activities in the region came to a halt. Over time, the deteriorating situation led to a complete ban on such events. But in the past five years, Kashmir has witnessed significant positive change. With a decline in separatist sentiment and a blow to terrorism, not just thousands but millions of tourists are now visiting the Valley. As a result, the sound of lights, cameras, and action is being heard once again in Kashmir. What’s particularly encouraging is that when a Hindi film holds its premiere in Kashmir, the message reaches far and wide. This has a direct impact on the tourism sector. Jammu and Kashmir possess immense tourism potential, and it’s commendable that the government is actively working on developing new tourist destinations. Last year too, during the summer season, Kashmir saw a record number of tourists. If such film-related events continue, old records may be broken again. Tourism is the backbone of Jammu and Kashmir’s economy. Strengthening it further will naturally create more employment opportunities and stimulate growth in other sectors. Recently, the film “Ground Zero” premiered in Kashmir, which had several of its scenes shot in the Valley. It is hoped that in the coming times, more such events and film launches will take place in Kashmir. This will not only boost the tourism sector but also give rise to new wings of opportunity for the people in the region. The revival of film premieres in Kashmir is a symbol of the return of peace and normalcy. If this trend continues, the picturesque valleys of Kashmir will once again become a beloved destination for filmmakers and tourists alike. Consequently, with increased tourism, there will be a rise in employment opportunities, local businesses will flourish, and the overall economy of Jammu and Kashmir will gain new momentum.
